| Our Roots |
In the central region of Abruzzo, towns separated by
mountains are united by modern roads and the pride of who they are.
The rich culture and history of this region are basically untapped
from the highest peak in the Apennines, Gran Sasso, to the warm, calm
waters of the Adriatic Sea and back through one of the beautiful national
forests. Strength and perseverance play a large part in this place
even though since WWII many had relocated to the U.S.A. and other
parts of Italy.
My parents were born in the small town of Scontrone which has played
a part in history for centuries. Even though the population has diminished,
they are still making a mark in the world thanks to Mayor Patrizia
Melone and many others. Besides the lively summer festivals, Scontrone
has become one of the three sites in the world to host an international
women artists exhibit during the month of July. The motto "A
place for museums" also includes the very interesting archeological
museum.
Situated on a hill, Scontrone is a perfect spot to get away from it
all. Day trips to other towns and cities in the region open up a whole
new look to Italy. Walks to Villa Scontrone and Alfedena take you
back to a tranquil time that you won't soon forget. |

| Our Family |
|
After taking 5 of my children on a long summer vacation to their
grandparents' hometown in 2004, we started talking about what we
can do to promote more tourism. My daughter, Cristina, and I decided
that wearable print is the way to go. This way we can spread the
word of lesser traveled destinations and learn more as well as educate
others about them. Our desire is to design a shirt for each place
that we are able to visit each year, not only in the province of
Abruzzo, but eventually from each place that we visit. We intend
to capture the inspiration that comes from the heart and soul of
each part of Italy, a country that has contributed greatly to discovery
and advancement in many areas of our lives.
It's a privilege to be able to share with you the places which inspire
the designs for
Baci d'Italia clothing. If you'd like further information, feel
free to contact us and be sure to check back for more information
on travels through Italy.
